Recipe for melomakarona

Materials:
– 2 cups of olive oil
– Wholemeal flour as long as it takes
– 1 cup of brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon of baking soda
– 1 cup of orange juice (natural not commercial)
– 2 teaspoons of baking powder
– 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
– 1 teaspoon of ground cloves
– Zest of 1 large orange
For the syrup
– 1 cup of honey
– 1 cup of brown sugar
– 1 orange
– 3 cinnamon sticks
– Walnut for the garnish
Execution:
In a small bowl, add the oil, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, cloves and zest. Mix the soda with the orange juice and add it to the bowl with the other ingredients. Mix the ingredients with a mixer for 2 minutes. Set the mixer aside and slowly add the flour that you have mixed with the baking powder and knead gently until the dough is soft and fluffy. Shape the melomakarona into the size and shape you want and place them on the baking sheet and in the oven you have preheated and bake them for about 20 minutes on the middle rack up and down until they are golden brown.

Vegetable fibre 1 gramWhile the melomakarona are baking, prepare the syrup. In a saucepan put all the ingredients. The honey, the sugar, the water, the cinnamon sticks, wash an orange and put it in the pot with the rest of the ingredients. Stir with a ladle and when the syrup boils well, remove the orange and the sticks and it is ready. Take the melomakarona out of the oven, pour the syrup over them, let them sit for 10 minutes, place them on a platter and pour the walnut paste on them so that it sticks to the syrup. If you want even fewer calories, you can skip the syrup and eat them like cookies! They still taste great.
